History
History Dutch NMRDG
In 1964 the SDN (Spectrometry Discussion Group Netherlands) - with chemists applying NMR - and the WMR (Workgroup Magnetic Resonance) - focussed on developing magnetic resonance - agreed to establish a section of the WMR with special emphasis on magnetic resonance applications and that would enhance scientific exchange between chemists and physicists. A first meeting with such focus was held by the WMR at the Laboratory of Organic Chemistry of the University of Amsterdam on Feb 25, 1965. This set the frame for the Dutch NMR Discussion Group.
Up to 2000 the Dutch NMR-DG held each year several gatherings, from 1966-2000 there in total 51 events. Since 2001 the Dutch NMR-DG meets annually. In 2015 it celebrated its 50th annual symposium. The Dutch NMR-DG also hosted international events, such as the 10th EENC in 1990 in Veldhoven, the first Euromar (joint EENC with Dutch and UK NMR-DGs) in 2005 in Veldhoven. Together with the Belgian, German and French magnetic resonance communities, the Dutch NMR-DG co-organized meetings in Blankenberge (2006) and Münster (2010).
